Unit Coordinator - Onarga Academy
## Overview
Provide leadership to direct care staff through effective communication, organization and planning of the daily operations of the program/unit.
## Responsibilities
1. Provide structure and supervision of the daily operations of the program/unit to ensure successful coordination and implementation of each resident's daily treatment services.
2. Participate as a multi-disciplinary team member in developing and implementing resident treatment plans and strategies.
3. Assist the Clinical Supervisor in the selection, training, ongoing professional development and performance evaluation of staff/team members.
4. Manage and monitor the program milieu and collaborate with coworkers to ensure an emotionally and physically safe environment for residents and one that is also positive, respectful, clean and therapeutic.
5. Perform other job and work-related responsibilities, tasks and projects as needed.

**Knowledge, Skills and Personal Attributes**
* Remain current on all required training and certifications.
* Demonstrate the ability to plan, organize and effectively manage multiple priorities and perform activities in a manner that makes the best use of existing resources, staff and time.
* Demonstrate the ability to develop a cohesive and effective team, through the use of basic supervision and team-building components such as: communicating a clear mission to the team, outlining common goals and promoting shared accountability for outcomes. Identify problems that can inhibit team/staff development and choose facilitation strategies to help achieve team goals.
* Easily adjust and able to be highly flexible in meeting changing work needs and demands and willingly provides direction and/or assistance to coworkers when needed.
* Exhibit and promote cooperation and flexibility among members of the team to ensure appropriate staffing levels on all shifts. Ensure responsibilities are covered, if applicable, when absent.
* Demonstrate the ability to handle emergency or crisis situations and use sound judgment by taking appropriate actions consistent with Nexus policy and procedures. Remains calm and is able to effectively manage stressful workload conditions and difficult, emotionally charged or crisis situations.

* Consistently demonstrate the ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs of the program, such as reprioritizing work or adjusting work schedule of team as necessary.
* Demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of all policies and procedures and the ability to reference and use them.

**Education, Credentials and Experience**
* Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a social work, psychology or clinically-related field.
* Minimum of 3 years job related experience in adolescent counseling and/or residential treatment program experience required, plus 1 year supervisory experience preferred.
* Meets the Medicaid qualification for MHP credential.
**Physical Demands**
* Must be able to assist staff in proper restraining of residents.
* Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100+ pounds with assistance.
* Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time (2-4 hours).
* Must be able to twist, bend and stretch in a manner conducive to the execution of daily activities within the residential program.
